National Fibromyalgia Association announces two new hires
ORANGE, CA (PRWEB) April 23, 2004
The National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA), a nonprofit charitable organization and publisher of Fibromyalgia AWARE, the first and only consumer fibromyalgia magazine, announced two new hires in its continuing efforts to provide awareness and education regarding fibromyalgia, a chronic pain illness, affecting 6 to 10 million Americans.
Amy Sanders joins the NFA as Director of Education and Development. She is in charge of expanding the organizationÂs reach to patients, physicians and the like by developing and providing medical education programs locally as well as nationally; fundraising to support the NFAÂs efforts and in hopes of building a major focus on research for those who suffer from fibromyalgia. Amy will act as liaison to major pharmaceutical companies, foundations and other institutions to help build educational programs, and continue to broaden the organizationÂs reach.
Corin Walson is the NFAÂs new Public Relations and Marketing Manager. She will be expanding exposure of the NFAÂs award-winning website (http://www.fmaware.org); strengthen relations with media and other nonprofit and community-based organizations; act as liaison for the NFAÂs network of over 1,500 Fibromyalgia Support Groups nationwide; and recruiting writers for the NFAÂs publications, including Fibromyalgia AWARE magazine and its newsletters, FM ONline and FAME Support Connection.
Lynne Matallana, President and Founder of the National Fibromyalgia Association said, ÂSince the NFA was founded in 1997, it has become the largest nonprofit organization to serve the fibromyalgia patient and physician communities. Thus, the need for awareness and accurate information about the growing epidemic of fibromyalgia is more important than ever. Amy and Corin have the experience and background to develop the resources we require in order to expand our physician education, patient services and research programs.Â
The NFA is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to develop and execute programs dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with fibromyalgia. The NFA concentrates on patient services, awareness outreach, physician continuing medical education and research.
