Robert H. Charney, M.D., F.A.C.C. of the Heart Group at Summit Medical Group in Millburn, has been appointed Chief of Cardiology at Bayonne Medical Center, Bayonne, NJ. As chief, Dr. Charney will oversee 23 cardiologists at BMC, a 278-bed, fully accredited, acute-care hospital located in Hudson County. His appointment is effective until June 30, 2012.
Dr. Charney completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, where renowned cardiologist, Valentin Fuster, M.D., Ph.D., mentored him. During his last year of fellowship training, he was designated a Bristol-Myers Squibb Fellow. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, with subspecialty certification in cardiovascular disease, and he is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Charney’s expertise includes coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, preventive cardiology, and noninvasive cardiology. He has hospital privileges at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Bayonne Medical Center, and Jersey City Medical Center.
